Therapy for Teens and Young Adults

The teens and young adults we work with seek out therapy for a variety of reasons, many of which stem from the intense pressures and challenges they face at this stage in life. Are you a teen or a parent of a teen who is feeling overwhelmed, misunderstood or having a difficult time coping? Do you feel anxious, confused and flooded by the pressures of daily life? We get it, and we’re here to help.

For teens

Navigating the ups and downs and the pressures you face can be tough. You might feel misunderstood, frustrated, or even hopeless at times. But you don’t have to face this alone. You can feel better by taking control of your mindset, finding your voice and sense of self and building upon your unique strengths. We get you. No judgment, just support.

for parents

What to expect when meeting with one of our therapists

Firstly, we want you to know that we understand if there are mixed feelings about starting therapy. We’ve been there ourselves. Uncertainty, curiosity, fear about opening up about personal issues or skepticism are valid emotions to have in the beginning. At Mindfully Alive, we are highly skilled at creating an environment in which you can learn to trust and to relax into your true self.

We are not here to “fix” you. We don’t know you better than you know yourself and no human being is “broken”. But we will get to know you through small but powerful moments in which we will gradually earn your trust.

We will begin by targeting what feels most overwhelming to you and offer techniques, exercises and skills that help you manage tough emotions. Next, we’ll focus on understanding what you’re feeling, expressing yourself in healthy ways and develop strategies to help mitigate feeling like you’re out of control or stuck in a cycle of anxiety, anger or sadness.

Finally, we’ll work on integrating everything you’re learning about yourself  into your daily life. We may challenge any negative beliefs you have about yourself and help build resilience and a more confident sense of who you are.

You were not made to shrink, you were made to rise and conquer
