Are you ready to embark on a transformative journey of self-discovery and healing? At Mindfully Alive, we specialize in guiding individuals through the powerful process of Shadow Work. By delving deep into your subconscious mind, we help you uncover and integrate the aspects of yourself that have been hidden, suppressed, or rejected.
What is shadow work?
Shadow work is the therapeutic approach rooted in Carl Jung’s psychology that focuses on exploring and embracing the shadow self. The shadow refers to the parts of ourselves that we deem unacceptable, such as our fears, insecurities, past traumas, and unresolved emotional wounds. These aspects often operate in our subconscious, influencing our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors without our conscious awareness.
Our Approach
- Individualized Guidance: Our experienced therapists provide compassionate and personalized support throughout your shadow work journey. We create a safe and non-judgmental space for you to explore your shadows and work through any challenges that arise.
- Deep Self Reflection: Through various therapeutic techniques such as journaling, mindfulness exercises and guided introspection, we help dive into your unconscious mind. By engaging in deep self-reflection, you gain insights into your patterns, beliefs and emotional triggers.
- Emotional Healing: Shadow work involves processing and healing unresolved emotions and traumas. Our therapists employ a trauma informed lens to help release emotional baggage fostering self-compassion, and cultivating emotional well-being.
- Integration and Empowerment: Integration is a key aspect of shadow work. Our therapists help you integrate the newfound awareness and insights into your daily life. Through empowerment exercises, we support you in embodying the lessons learned and making positive changes in your relationships, career and overall wellbeing.
- Holistic Approach: We recognize the interconnectedness of mind, body and spirit. At Mindfully Alive we embrace a holistic approach incorporating traditional therapy techniques with complimentary practices like meditation, breath work and somatic experiencing, tailored to your unique needs.
Since early childhood, we have learned to put anything that has created feelings of low self worth, inferiority or shame into our shadow. We learned to disown those aspects of ourselves because a deep sense of belonging, acceptance and connection are non-negotiables to us as children. We are dependent and need to feel valued, seen, nurtured and loved in order to survive our formative years. Because of that, if we felt a sense of shame, inferiority or rejection, when displaying a particular trait, quality or behavior we buried those things into our shadow.
Through social conditioning, we learn what is acceptable and unacceptable- and if there are parts of our personality that we are told are troubling- that which you should not be- we disown or neglect them.
From our families we learn how to think about money, we learn how to think about selfishness, individuality and emotional expression. A mini example would be a child who possesses an interest towards art or music being told they should focus instead on getting a real job or skill set because artists don’t make a sustainable living. This child’s creativity and self-expression is now limited because this disapproval causes him to reject his creative side in order to feel accepted.
“Shadow work is the path of the heart warrior”-
