Alexandra Marotta, LAC

I’m a licensed, Highly Sensitive Therapist (HSP Therapist) in Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ specializing in trauma and identity development. I believe in embracing the gray areas of life, and I see many aspects of life as a spectrum. Life is full of uncertainties, and it’s in this gray space that we can find flexibility, growth, and understanding. Society often pressures us to conform, particularly when it comes to gender, sexuality, and other aspects of identity. This pressure to fit in can exacerbate feelings of loneliness, confusion, anxiety, and shame. It can also lead to discrimination, rejection, and trauma.

As an HSP and Highly Sensitive Therapist (HST) myself, I understand the unique strengths and challenges that come with heightened sensitivity. I support clients in managing stress, avoiding burnout, and addressing issues like people-pleasing and boundary difficulties. My goal is to help you harness your sensitivity as a strength, achieve emotional balance, and maintain a healthy sense of self.

I am a dedicated advocate for LGBTQIA+ individuals, especially those navigating multiple marginalized identities. My work with The Trevor Project has expanded my understanding of how various aspects of identity—such as gender, sexuality, race, ethnicity, religion, and ability status—intersect to shape each person’s unique experience. My goal is to create a space where my clients feel safe to be their authentic selves and remain curious about who they are.

I’m also deeply committed to supporting clients in breaking free from generational cycles and overcoming narcissistic abuse. My focus is on helping individuals assert their self-worth, live according to their core values, and move away from harmful relational patterns.

My therapeutic approach as an HSP therapist, is based on psychodynamic perspectives while integrating aspects of Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). We’ll work together to bring unconscious thoughts and feelings to light, exploring how they impact your actions and relationships. I aim to foster a safe space where you can explore your deepest emotions and discover your own answers.

I hold a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from William Paterson University, driven by a passion for understanding the mind and a commitment to the therapy field. Outside of work, I enjoy painting, singing, and rock climbing.

“We seek connection, predictability, and dependability to root us firmly in place. But we also have a need for change, for the unexpected, for transcendence.” – Esther Perel

Danielle Laino LAC

My ultimate professional goal as an anxiety counselor in New Jersey, is to be a trusted collaborator in the therapeutic process that can assist you in understanding yourself on a deep and transformative level. Through trauma informed and mindfulness based therapeutic mechanisms, I strive to equip my clients to interface with their thoughts, feelings, relationships and inner confidence in a way that makes them feel better in their lives.

Our work may focus on integrating experiences that may be contributing to keeping you stuck in patterns that are not serving you.  Beyond understanding contributing factors, I also focus on the present and work with my clients to find relief, inner peace and make lasting powerful changes not just for their mental health but for their wellness and spiritual exploration.

To achieve such goals, I utilize a psychodynamic orientation that incorporates mindfulness and trauma-informed strategies that help regulate difficult emotions (sadness, anger, fear, worry, procrastination). Most of all, I focus on our therapeutic alliance as this is the number one predictor of a successful outcome and uniquely tailor my approach to each individual I work with. No person is ever cookie cutter and there is no one size-fits all when it comes to our personal psychology.

I specialize in working with young adults who have relationship trauma, including, but not limited to, all forms of abuse (sexual, physical, psychological and emotional). Additional areas of specialization include, relationship concerns, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), adult children of emotionally immature parentsgender diversity and sexual orientation struggles,  adjustment to life events (including transitioning to and out of college, grief, gender transitioning and other monumental life changes), body image concerns, disordered eating, the highly sensitive person (HSP) and suicidal ideation and self-injury.

I look forward to being part of your healing journey.

Victoria Ozerskaya, LPC

anxiety and chronic pain therapist in NJ If you are hurting emotionally and/or physically, you spend a tremendous amount of energy to just “stay afloat”, “manage”, “get through the day”, “carry on”…. the energy that, otherwise, could be put to a better use to enrich your life, propel you to do and enjoy things, build more fulfilling relationships and achieve success however you define it.

My approach is based on two fundamental principles. First, that we are born to be biologically, emotionally and spiritually “connected” to others and second, that faulty relationships, past and present, cause the majority of emotional dysfunctions. I help clients achieve self-awareness and behavior change using insight-oriented and behavioral techniques in a secure, trusting relationship.

I incorporate relevant aspects of my real self in my work. The authenticity, trust and openness between myself and my clients forms a special bond that strengthens your capacity to cope with life’s stressors past and present. I also believe that we are both a mind and a body. They are connected and what influences one influences the other. Powerful emotions, the brain and the mind play a strong role in producing physical symptoms and conditions. Most common among them are neck and back pain, muscle tension and migraines. Attempts to treat those and many other physiological disorders such as acute and chronic pain, jaw pain (TMJ), reflux and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), skin rashes including eczema, joint pain, pelvic pain, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, autoimmune disorders, etc. without investigating mind-body connection are often ineffective and just prolong the suffering.

Psychophysiological Disorders Therapy (PPDT) – an approach that is proven to be effective in reduction and, in many cases, elimination of centralized pain – focuses on exploration of past traumatic events, current stress-producing circumstances, repressed and unconscious emotions and personality traits (which affect how you respond to stress) as potential causes of chronic pain and other ilnesses.

I look forward to working with you towards your fullest expression in this life, and I value the energy and commitment it takes to trust me to self-reflect on patterns, tendencies and relationship default settings both with the self and with important others in your life.

“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.” -Carl Roger

Amanda Wasserman, LCSW, PMH-C

therapist in New Jersey

I consider myself a transpersonal therapist, meaning that while I integrate the person’s body and mind into the work, I also believe in working with my client’s spirit- highlighting personal empowerment and identifying a person’s deeper meaning and purpose in life.

Through various types of messaging (family, culture, social media) we are told how we’re supposed to act and we’re told how we’re supposed to feel. This can lead to adopting a style of perfectionistic thinking that leads to always running at 100%, believing that we can skate through life without slowing down and a constant state of worrying, restlessness and preoccupation with how others interpret us (“Did I say the right thing?”, “Did I do something wrong?”, “Am I doing enough?”, “Am I good enough?”) etc.

I work with adolescents and adults who have really high standards for their lives who are feeling stressed and anxious. Stress and not being able to recover from burnout is also an epidemic in our current world. Striving for perfectionism or the economic rat race can leave us feeling depleted, empty, lonely and even cause physical illness. I work to unlock hidden potentials for growth in high achieving people by teaching them to slow down, to take a step back every now and then to take a much needed breath.

I believe in the interconnection of psychology and bio-chemistry, meaning that when we listen to our body, when we allow it to express itself then we can access our instinctual wisdom; our intuition, our inner guiding system and find relief from anxiety, shame, guilt and fear. We can gain perspective, create meaning for our lives and answer the questions that only you can answer, such as: “Why am I working so hard? “What is it for?”, “What do I want to create in life and am I doing that?” “How do I want to feel?” “What do I want to experience in my life?”

I am also very passionate about my work with new mothers and new parents, expectant parents, those trying to conceive and having a difficult time, and loss of pregnancy or the emotional aftermath of the termination of pregnancy. While a lot of people mean well, during this very sacred and sensitive chapter of life, feelings of inadequacy and sadness can be exacerbated both from external and internal sources.

I am relentless in my mission to empower, support and nurture my clients through therapeutic, evidenced based and holistic approaches to wellness; to feel grounded, in contact with their own intuition, to eliminate unrealistic pressures, to let go of comparison and to thrive.

My speciality areas include perinatal mental health from preconception through parenthood, adolescent mental health- including anxiety, depression, self-esteem, body image, avoidance/procrastination, the LGBTQIA+ community, anxiety/perfectionism and the HSP (highly sensitive person)

I received my Master’s in Social Work from NYU in 2018 and I completed my PMH-C (Perinatal Mental Health) certification in 2021 and I am humbled and honored to be part of your journey.
