Rooted in Worth

Loosening shame, growing authentic self-worth

Do you ever feel like you’re working twice as hard just to prove you belong?

Low self-worth doesn’t always call itself by name. Psychotherapist Patricia DeYoung, calls it chronic shame- a quiet, constant belief that there’s something wrong with you, that you’re less than.

It’s invisible but it touches everything.

How Chronic Shame Shows up In Everyday Life

You overthink every decision, afraid of “getting it wrong”.

You’re quick to please others, but slow to say (or know) what you need and want.

You push yourself to perform and achieve but still feel behind.

You hold back parts of yourself in relationships, worried you’re “too much”.

You feel guilty when you rest, like you haven’t earned it.

Even when life looks fine from the outside, inside you feel not enough.

Criticizing your partner nonstop to keep them at a distance — pushing them away before they can see your fear of not being lovable.

You stay quiet in  work meetings, even when you have good ideas

Why a Group? Why Now?

Shame is formed in relationships and it is healed in relationships.

That’s why group therapy is so powerful:

– You discover you’re not the only one feeling this way.

– You learn tools to soften the inner critic and untangle perfectionism.

– You get to practice being seen – and accepted- without judgment.

– Week by week, shame loosens and something else takes root: real, grounded self worth.

Imagine This…

Realizing that things are actually more simple than the mind makes it seem.

Making decisions without second- guessing yourself.

Saying no without guilt- and meaning it.

Feeling calmer in your body, instead of pushed by the critic in your head.

Connecting with others from a place of genuine authenticity.

Leaning into vulnerability.

Things start to not feel as personal anymore.

This group may be a good fit if you:

– struggle with self-criticism or perfectionism
– feel shame shows up in relationships
– want relational healing, not just coping tools

This group may not be a fit if you:

– are in acute crisis
– prefer drop-in support groups
