Therapy Fees & Insurance

Understanding the cost of therapy shouldn’t feel complicated. Mindfully Alive provides individual and couples therapy in New Jersey, with in-network coverage for Aetna and options for clients using out-of-network insurance benefits. Below, you’ll find information about our therapy fees, insurance coverage, and reimbursement options so you can have a clearer idea of what to expect before getting started.

Using Insurance

We are In-Network with Aetna

If you have an Aetna plan, your cost may include copay and/or deductible costs depending on your specific benefits.

Coverage varies by plan and we will look up your behavioral health benefits before beginning therapy. Our intake team is always available to help you fully understand your benefits before scheduling.

Out-of-Network Benefits

We Can Help You Use Your Out-Of-Network Benefits

If we are not in-network with your insurance plan, you may have out-of-network benefits that reimburse you for a portion of the cost of therapy. In some cases, out-of-network costs can be comparable to an in-network copay. We’re happy to verify your benefits on your behalf so you have a clearer idea of what your individual plan may cover.

For out-of-network clients, we provide monthly superbills that you can submit directly to your insurance company for reimbursement. Superbills are available through your client portal on the 10th of each month for services from the previous month.

Session Fees

Individual & Couples Therapy

Our standard fee for individual and couples therapy is $250 per session.

Reduced-Fee Options

Reduced-fee options are available for our services. Rates vary based on individual financial circumstances and are application-based. Our intake team can discuss current options with you and help determine the next steps.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about fees and insurance

If we are not in-network with your insurance plan, you may still have out-of-network benefits that reimburse you for a portion of the cost of therapy. Coverage varies by plan and may be subject to a deductible.

Most of our out-of-network clients receive back 70-80% of their total session cost. Before starting, we are very happy to look up your specific deductible amount (what you will have to pay out of pocket before insurance starts covering a percentage) and co-insurance percentages (what percent insurance will cover and what percent will be your responsibility once the deductible is met) so that you have a very good idea of your actual cost.

Our intake team can verify your benefits before you begin therapy so you have a clearer understanding of your potential reimbursement and expected costs.

A superbill is an itemized receipt that includes the information your insurance company needs to process an out-of-network claim. For out-of-network clients, superbills are available through your client portal on the 10th of each month for services provided during the previous month. You can download the superbill and submit it directly to your insurance company for reimbursement.

Choosing an out-of-network therapist gives you the freedom to choose a clinician based on fit, specialization, and expertise, rather than limiting your search to therapists who participate with your insurance plan.

At Mindfully Alive, we intentionally prioritize smaller caseloads and continued advanced training so our clinicians have the space to remain thoughtful and engaged in their work. Our therapists continue to deepen their expertise through specialized training in areas such as trauma, EMDR, attachment, and other approaches that support the clients we serve.

For clients seeking more specialized care, this can mean working with a therapist who has gone beyond general clinical training and continues to develop expertise in the areas most relevant to your needs.

Out-of-network care can also provide greater flexibility in how treatment is structured, including session frequency, session length, and the approaches you and your therapist determine are most appropriate for your care.

If you have out-of-network benefits, your plan may reimburse a portion of your session cost. Our intake team is happy to verify your benefits before you begin so you have a clearer understanding of what your individual plan may cover.

We know insurance benefits can be confusing, and we don’t want you to have to navigate them alone. Before you begin therapy, our intake team can verify your insurance benefits and help you understand what you can expect to pay based on your individual plan.

If you have Aetna, we’ll review your in-network benefits, including any deductible, copay, or coinsurance. If you have out-of-network benefits, we can help you understand your deductible and potential reimbursement so you have a clearer picture of what therapy may ultimately cost you.

While insurance companies cannot guarantee coverage or reimbursement in advance, our goal is to give you as much information as possible upfront so there are fewer surprises along the way.

We understand that individual circumstances can sometimes make the cost of therapy difficult to manage. In certain circumstances, fee adjustments may be considered on an individual basis. If you are experiencing financial hardship, financial abuse, or another circumstance that is creating a barrier to accessing care, please let our intake team know so we can discuss available options with you.

Mindfully Alive provides trauma-specialized therapy to clients throughout New Jersey, with an office in Ho-Ho-Kus serving Bergen County and surrounding communities.
